Wiki Loves Monuments 2012[edit]

Hi Peter, at first I want you welcome personally as a new photographer. At the same time I saay thanks a lot for the photo for all for Slovakia. Perhaps you have seen, that SR had begin very late and so not an advertising was possible. At the time I have a question to you, because I see, that you have a good photo-equipment. Whats the cause, that you make the photo sop small - we have not a problem of storage - or it's a other cause? -- regards from neighbourhood in Vienna K@rl (talk) 18:25, 30 September 2012 (UTC

Hi Karl, I registered on wikimedia.org just today, so everything is pretty new for me. I heard about Wiki Loves Monuments about two weeks ago, but unfortunatelly I didn't had time till today. I think that for web browsing there's is not need to have big quality, because not everyone have fast connection. For example I use mobile connection when I travel by train, and computer screens have anyway low resolution. For bigger prints I use pictures with bigger resolution and lower compression. Anyway I can reupload some images with a better quality. Please, can you specify how big images should be - which resolution and jpeg compression quality should I use?

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter, I saw it, for this challenge its not so important. But you allow with your upload, that the photos can used for all sens. So many of our photos can be founded in various newspaper or jounals also in books and so on. For slower connnections there are forseen in smaller versions. e.g: if you have a look to File:Stift Klosterneuburg 8935.jpg, so you can find 160 × 240 Pixel | 320 × 480 Pixel | 512 × 768 Pixel | 682 × 1.024 Pixel. So you can see, the size is not a problem and its better to load up the better quality. Some user have an other philosophy, so they load only a small version and want to sell the better one ;-) also this is possible -- so it's dependant from your sense. regards K@rl (talk) 16:17, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
